Fact Project
(Family Assertive community treatment)

The FACT (Family Assertive Community Treatment) initiative is a Chicago-based cross-sector partnership that addresses the intersection of homelessness on a child’s development. Funded with a three-year grant from the Conrad N. Hilton Foundation, Chicago’s FACT initiative is a model program delivering integrated, comprehensive community based services to homeless and at risk young mothers and children.  Beacon Therapeutic, the lead agency of the Chicago initiative, is one of only four projects nationwide to receive this funding.  FACT is also the recipient of local support from the McCormick Foundation, Polk Bros. Foundation, and Chicago Department of Housing.

The FACT project brings together some of Chicago’s most respected organizations in the arenas of homeless services and child development treatment services. They include:  Heartland Alliance for Human Needs and Human Rights, Voices for Illinois Children, Thresholds, Mercy Housing Lakefront, and Inner Voice. Together these organizations are working to develop and implement innovative and sound strategies to mediate the impact on children who are the victims of homelessness. Additionally, these efforts are intended to break the cycle of intergenerational homelessness.
