Intensive Outpatient Program

Emotional and behavior disorders can ruin a child’s life before they know what life is all about. They may not be able to function in public schools and sometimes they cannot function in their own home. These are the children Beacon Therapeutic Diagnostic and Treatment Center serves.

Beacon’s Intensive Outpatient Program is for children and adolescents who are often in crisis and require structured, multi-modal treatment (individual therapy, group therapy, and family therapy), to help them either move into or remain in their local public school. Attention problems and impulsivity, classroom disruption, lying, stealing, aggression, attachment, developmental delays, depression and behavior management strategies are among the clinical issues addressed in treatment.

Beacon’s Intensive Outpatient Program is a certified program providing Medicaid Community Mental Health services on an outpatient basis to children, adolescents and teens (ages 3 to 18), within their communities.  It is community based, developmentally oriented, and provides 3.5 to 8 hours of intensive therapeutic programming in a supportive and structured environment. The program serves as one alternative to residential care for very complex clients who do not require round-the-clock care but need an intensive therapeutic experience within a structured environment.
